About the Event

COG India Art Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching lives and fostering creativity, is thrilled to announce an International photography exhibition and competition with special mention of “Kolkata: My city.”

Date: 13 – 16 June 2024

Venue: Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata

Categories

The exhibition will feature four distinct categories, each inviting a unique interpretation of the theme, “Kolkata, my city.”

  1. Kolkata, My City: This category is a homage to the city’s vibrant culture, iconic landmarks, and everyday street scenes. Your photographs should narrate the story of Kolkata’s heritage, architecture, festivals, and its pulsating life.

  2. Human and Nature: Explore the intricate relationship between humans and the environment. This category seeks to showcase how humans interact with nature, highlighting either harmony or conflict, and the impacts of those interactions.

  3. Wildlife: Capture the untamed beauty of the animal kingdom, from the wilderness to urban wildlife cohabiting with humans.
  4. Open: A broad spectrum for creativity—any subject matter that does not fit into the other categories can be submitted here. This category is your canvas for experimental, abstract, or unconventional photographic expressions.

 
In each category there will be two awards: Gold and Silver (Along with certificates). Awards will be declared on the last day of the exhibition

Every participant whose photographs will be exhibited will be felicitated with certificate and memento

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Simplified Submission and Selection Process

Step 1: Initial Submission

  • Participants are invited to submit between 5 to 7 photographs (of any category) 
  • Submission Requirements: Each photograph must be in .jpg format and should not exceed a file size of 3MB.
  • Last date of Submission: 15 May 2024 (IST)
  • Upon submission, participants will be asked to pay a processing fee of INR 100 (for all 5-7 photos, free for international candidates). This fee is crucial for advancing to the final stage of the exhibition preparation.

Step 2: Selection Process

  • All submissions will be reviewed  and those are selected for the final exhibition will be notified via email.

Step 3: Final Registration and High-Quality Submission

  • An entry fee of INR 1300 per photograph (USD $18) is required for each selected work to be displayed at the exhibition. This fee includes the costs associated with rent the gallery, printing, framing, and mounting your photographs for the show.
  • After paying the entry fee, selected participants must complete the final registration form. This includes uploading high-quality versions of their photographs (suitable for printing) and providing any additional details required for the exhibition display.
  • High-Quality Image Requirements: Selected photographs should be submitted in a high-resolution format (300 dpi recommended) to ensure the best quality prints for the exhibition.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Do I need to be physically present?
    While not mandatory, attending the exhibition offers a richer experience. It’s a chance to engage with fellow artists and the audience.

  • How do I get my photo frames back if I am not from Kolkata?
    Your framed photographs will be securely repackaged with an acrylic sheet and shipped back to you within India at a cost of INR 700 for two frames, including a participation certificate and memento. Each additional frame costs INR 300.

  • What if I only need my participation certificate and memento shipped?
    We offer shipping of a laminated certificate and memento within India for INR 200.

  • What about international participants?
    Digital certificates will be issued. For participants in Bangladesh, certificates and mementos will be available for pickup at designated locations in Dhaka.

  • What about copyright?
    The copyright of each photograph remains with the photographer. After the event, participants will have the option to instruct us to delete their photographs from our database, ensuring their work remains their property.
