Concept Note

"The only thing Mihir can do is painting," he often says, but in this singular focus, Mihir finds a universe of expression. Born in 1983, Mihir's journey with the brush began at a tender age, leading him to the prestigious Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, from which he graduated in 2007. Since then, his canvas has been a window to his soul, a mirror to society, and a testament to his skill. Mihir's art is not just a visual treat; it's a narrative of life, woven with colors and emotions. His works are a dialogue between the artist and the world, reflecting the joys, sorrows, and the nuanced complexities of the human experience. With over 14 solo shows to his name, including notable exhibitions at STUDIO-74 in California and the Academy of Fine Art in Kolkata, Mihir has established himself as a rising star in the art world.

Mihir Kayal
Mihir Kayal is an artist with a truly remarkable story. Born in 1983, this incredibly talented man has already accomplished a great deal in his lifetime. After graduating from THE INDIAN COLLAGE OF ARTS AND DRAFTMANSHIP in 2007, he has since gone on to participate in 10 solo shows, including STUDIO-74 CALIFORNIA and Academy of Fine Art, Kolkata. His skill is undoubtedly acknowledged around the world - art collectors from India, U.S.A., Brazil, Japan and Switzerland have added his work to their collections. His artwork includes elements from nature that allude to the pain of common people in society – not only creating beautiful pieces but also raising awareness for others less fortunate than himself. Mihir's artistry is a reminder for us all about the need for compassion during difficult moments. Through his work, he showcases elements of Indian society – such as ducks, fish and flowers – which symbolize their various aspects. Moreover, Mihir also sheds light on women and their lives which are often kept hidden from the public eye. His style of painting includes the right amount of abstraction to capture the delicacies and complexities of real life in India without being overly literal or dull. As we look back with admiration on Mihir's work, let us renew our commitment towards connecting to one another with compassion and understanding.
