About artist

Sumon Naskar

Born in Kolkata, artist Sumon Naskar's work is deeply influenced by Bengali culture and urban life, particularly the portrayal of women in cultural figures like Devi Durga or Kali. Drawing on the mystic mythology of Bengal's vintage chalchitra and pattachitra, Naskar uses warm and bright colors to explore female emotions in his artwork.

Naskar completed a seven-year painting diploma from Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, Rabindra Bharati University, receiving the Ankan Ratna and Ankan Bivakar titles in 2007. He was also awarded the Jury Award in an international art competition organized by Arts and Crafts Dubai in August 2021.

Naskar has exhibited in various venues, including annual exhibitions by the Modern Art and Music Centre in Uttarpara Hooghly from 1998-2008, and in festivals like the Spring Art Festival at Rabindra Tirtha in 2019. His work has also been displayed online, such as in the Red Palette by Diversion 18 Art Group in 2021. His most recent exhibitions were "Taranga" at State Gallery of Art Hyderabad in 2022, and the Annual Art Exhibition by Gallery Gati at Academy of Fine Arts Kolkata in May 2023.

Naskar's paintings invite viewers on an intimate journey into his soul, where he explores his inspirations and stories that shape his work.
