Aami Sreejita creates abstract paintings that reflect expressive use of bold and contrast colors, vigorous strokes, and subtle spontaneity. Her use of colors conveys the striking contrast of emotions within the human psyche. Forms of emotions and their expressions, along with diversity in human nature are what motivate her. Her palette consists mostly of black, red, and white, which for her is the depiction of the Divine Feminine and the Light she spreads on our being. The black and white artworks show the contrasting shades of life, marred with grey, for she believes life is grey most often than not. Her artworks are intra-personal conversations between the 'I' & 'i'. Her works distinctly project the lack of connection between the perceived Self and the inner Self of the world around her.
In Sreejita’s own words, ‘if you ask me why I paint, the honest answer would be— I don’t. My paintings are almost like messages, intercepted from the Great Beyond through the connection with one's emotions and intuitions. Sometimes, they are reliving experiences in a new light, and conversations with the Self. They do not require words or sentences. They’re strings of thoughts that I express through the paint and canvas. It is an ongoing thing.’
