Somnath Hore

Somnath Hore's artwork served as a powerful expression of the tumultuous events that shaped 20th century Bengal. His work captured both tragedy and hope, acting as social commentaries on great tragedies such as the 1943 Famine and Tebhaga movement. For his influential contributions to art in India he was awarded Padma Bhushan – one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
